Biography
On the 3rd October 2008 John was made a Minister in the Whip's Office and given the official role of Comptroller of Her Majesty's Household. John has previously served in the government as Minister of State for the Armed Forces, Minister for Transport and Minister for Northern Ireland. John was Opposition Whip with responsibility for Employment, Trade and Industry and Parliamentary Business from 1992-1994. The 2010 Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowships

John Spellar MP is encouraging local people to apply to the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust for one of one hundred travelling fellowships which pay an average of over £5000 to cover travel and living expenses for overseas study projects. All ages can apply and applications can be submitted in a wide number of subject areas. Further details are available from www.wcmt.org.uk
